Florida Trip

Summer 2008 was the season of driving. How ironic that gas prices had never been higher...

We headed East in August. First stop on the the trip was Pensacola to visit Jewels' cousin Renee and family. The drive was stressful - it rained hard from Baton Rouge to Biloxi. We got to our destination before dark. Don and Renee's home is great. Very open and inviting. She has colorful pottery from their days living in Spain throughout. Jewels liked their pool which is completely screened in. He envies their lack of leaf skimming.

Our first day there was spent at the beach - beautiful with thick white sand (what a concept!). Children 1 & 2 really enjoyed themselves. They made sandcastles and played in the waves with their cousins. Little girl wasn't so sure about the place. She liked the water, but didn't want the waves touching her. She also didn't understand that when she threw a fit, throwing herself face first into the sand was not a great idea.
