Sea World/Spring Break

We enjoyed a fun weekend at Sea World! Jewels had plans to have us packed in the car by 6:30 AM, but reality set in and we were on the road by 8:00. We were not unique in our idea for family fun. The park was very crowded, but we have been there several times and knew what to do and when. This was little girl's first trip.

The weather was beautiful on Saturday. We saw all the shows - Shamu/Believe, Dolphins/Viva, the Ski Show, and the Sea Lions/Otters (although the both were participating in an actor's strike). We cooled off at the Penguin House, played in the kid area, and saw the Sharks. We woke Sunday to cool temperatures, overcast sky, and strong winds. We were really glad we had sweaters with us. We fed the dolphins and Seals/Sea Lions. We tried to see the Alligators do their thing, but since it was cold out they were not active and didn't want to eat. We rode the Monkey Drop and spinned around in the Paint Bucket ride.

The park was crowded with Spring Breakers.

The Shark tanks. Sting Rays and colorful fish also swim around in there.

The ropes were fun. The two older kids ran around the tubes, while little girl climbed to the TOP of the ropes on her own. Jewels remained close by in case she decided to free fall.

The Jet Ski/Water Ski show was great.

Pink cheeked and tired from the rope climb, little girl napped during the dolphin show.

One of the cool things at Sea World - free beer! Owned by Anhauser-Busch, each adult can enjoy 2 complimentary beverages a day.
Silly picture time...

The Shamu show is called Believe. Jewels and the two older kids sat in the splash zone (look for the white hat and waving hands in the crowd) while little girl and I stayed up top. They had tried to get wet during the dolphin and sea lion shows, but didn't even feel a drop of water. When the trainer came over to our side during Shamu, the oldest told her she was trying to get wet. The trainer said, "You want to get wet? Well, come on down!"

Dinning with the dolphins...yummy fish!
Jewels tried to pet this dolphin, but was snapped at both times.

The sea lions and seals eat the same fish as the dolphins, but the trays are a dollar cheaper...go figure.
One particular sea lion, lying against the wall, kept slapping his fin and barking at us. Apparently he wanted US to move to his location and feed him. Of course we complied.

Waiting in line to ride the Monkey Drop.

All of the kids enjoyed the ride. It was little girl's first time and she loved it. If the line hadn't been so long, we would have gone several times.

We ended our trip Sunday afternoon. The chilly wind and misty rain finally got the best of us. We had a great time, and we look forward to going again. Let us know if you want to come with us!
